Material and tooling
Not sure about K? Air bending mild steel is usually 0.33–0.45. For the most accurate value, bend a test piece and measure it.

| Bend | Angle | BA | OSSB | BD |
|---|
BA = bend allowance · OSSB = outside setback · BD = bend deduction (all mm)
How it is calculated
- Bend allowance:
BA = π × A / 180 × (R + K × T) - Outside setback:
OSSB = tan(A / 2) × (R + T) - Bend deduction:
BD = 2 × OSSB − BA - Flat length:
sum of outside flange dimensions − sum of BD - A is the bend angle: how far the sheet is bent from flat. A normal L-bracket is 90°.
- This is a guide. Your real K-factor depends on your press brake, V-die, punch radius and material batch. Check the first part before running a batch.
